I chose the Salon Professional Academy because of the individual attention that they showed me. I really felt like they genuinely cared and had my best interest at heart. I felt like other schools were not as personal and they didn't care about where I was going in my future and if this was truly a good fit.
The Salon Professional Academy was also more organized. When I asked questions they always had it together and could respond immediately whereas other schools would look back at me with a blank stare and would have to "get back to me on that one."
I really believe that there are more benefits from attending this school. There is the KRS system, which is an amazing program to help you build your business. So they are not only teaching you the cosmetology part but also preparing you to be able to successfully handle the business aspect of it as well. Finally there is the career opportunities and placement in all 50 states. There is no other school in this area that is able to place you wherever you would like to go. With other schools it's more like you are on your own.
I enjoyed having the opportunity to share memories with long time friends going through the same experience. I learned so many lessons from all the girls that I went to school with and also all the different walks of life that walk through the door. You learn to value someone else's opinion and ideas unlike your own. However I really enjoyed all the amazing hair shows and road trips that I was able to attend. Who doesn't like to take off for a long weekend?
By attending TSPA you will have business building skills that takes other stylists years to obtain. You also will have accreditation from Redken because they sponsor TSPA. You leave this school with knowledge and experience using Redken's hair color and their hair products. That is amazing because Redken hair color is the top hair color brand used in the U.S.! So once again you are ahead of the game.
Going to TSPA you have access to training with Redken artists that most people never get to experience in their lifetime. You really have so many resources at your fingertips that just are not given at other schools. I really think you receive more for your money. When leaving this school you are skilled in all areas of the hair industry. I believe that is so important when investing in your future to really cover everything and TSPA goes step by step through all of it.
I have yet to decide where I am going to work because of all the amazing opportunities I have received. However two places where I have considered are; Rodney Cutler located in South Beach Miami and MNKYTHMP, which is located in San Francisco.

Why did you choose The Salon Professional Academy?
I was referred to the school by the salon owner Marilyn of Salon Yaya. So I took a tour and couldn't say no. The school looked amazing inside and of course because TSPA uses Redken and you cant go wrong with that.
What did you enjoy most about attending school there?
I enjoyed the learning experiences I had with each and every client. Cutting hair, coloring hair, styling hair it was all so exciting that I was behind the chair transforming the clients hair into what we both had a vision for and seeing them leave with a smile on their face. There are no words to explain the feeling you get when it happens.
How will attending school there set you apart from others stylist in the industry?
Well at TSPA not only do they teach you hair but they also teach you the business aspect as well with the KRS system which helps you grow your business and clientele. Not to mention we had Redken artists come to our school from everywhere around the U.S. to come and speak to us which was so amazing because the same artists at a class charge a ticket price to speak and at TSPA you get it for free and no other school has that to offer. You will leave this school knowing so much especially about business and thats something that even salons out there today have no idea about.
Why should a potential student choose our school over any of the others that are in the area?
The Salon Professional Academy uses Redken product which was voted the number one hair color in the country. You get the business aspect and the teachers are amazing and will work with you and you leave with an amazing education that no other school could even compare to. Not to mention that Ms.Lessie and the owners Chip and Wanda are absolutely amazing and they will help you with job placement and anything else that may come along that you need help with and they are so dedicated to the school and students and you don't see that at every school.
Where are you working now...???
I am now working at Salon Yaya which is a KRS Salon and I absolutely love it and would not want it any other way : )

After visiting other schools in the area, I compared them to TSPA and my decision was easily made. I knew that I would receive a better education and understanding of not only the basics needed but also get a more modern approach to education including the business side of this industry. TSPA definitely exceeded my expectations.
I would have never imagined the amount of hands on experience with cutting and coloring, along with the opportunity to build a clientele starting in cosmetology school. I feel I have a head start in my career and know how an actual salon operates.
The education at TSPA well exceeds the standard for cosmetology schools. I learned many skills vital to having a successful career in this industry. TSPA also offers personal classes to its students with some of the top names in Redken, such as David Stanko, Dhaniel Dhoud and Roy Peters.
I am now working at Studio Gaven, where I have the opportunity to work with industry leaders like Gaven Smith and Jayson Morgan. I know my education at TSPA has led me to this great opportunity.
